About Us
Festival a/d Werf is an annual festival that pops up at a wide range of locations, steeping the city of Utrecht in culture for ten days each May. Festival a/d Werf presents original productions created by artists who explore the boundaries of theatre, and places them within the context of an international programme. It is a festival for artists with a unique view on the world and for audiences unafraid of questioning their own perspectives. With performances, visual art, (free) music events, evaluations, workshops, debate, food & drink, and parties.
From 20 – 29 May 2010 the 25th edition of Festival a/d Werf will take place. With new original productions and co-productions from artists including James Beckett, Roos van Geffen and Dries Verhoeven (as part of his own foundation for the first time this year). This year’s guest programme is packed with (inter)national groups and artists. Alain Platel, present in the early days of the festival with his Bernadetje, will be presenting his highly praised Out of Context. Abattoir Fermé will be there with part two of their INDEX trilogy. Lone Twin Theatre and Amir Reza Koohestani will be visiting Festival a/d Werf as part of their European tours. And Rabih Mroué presents Looking for a Missing Employee in combination with his solo exhibition in BAK (Utrecht).
Festival a/d Werf 2010 will consist of twenty-five productions at around fifteen indoor and outdoor sites around Utrecht, plus two music events each night on the Neude square. There will also be a fringe programme with room for more in-depth exploration and debate.
Every year, Festival a/d Werf organises the International Programmers Event (IPE). If you have any questions concerning the IPE, please contact Maaike Glerum. Download the IPE programme 2010 here.
