Muziektheater over wonderen, nieuwe taboes en hartenwensen

Een groep mensen reist naar een plek in de wereld om een wonder mee te maken. Allemaal verwachten ze iets anders. Ter plekke vertelt een cosmic warrior dat hij een visioen heeft gehad. Hij is uitverkoren om de wereld te verlossen van alle problemen. Om dat te laten gebeuren moet hij de wensen van de pelgrims verzamelen voordat het licht verdwijnt. Er is alleen een voorwaarde: alle wensen moeten met hart en ziel worden gedaan. Eclips stelt de vraag of het mogelijk is om zonder de troost van een vooruitgangsgeloof te leven. Of is geloof het nieuwe taboe? Het idee voor deze muziektheatervoorstelling op locatie ontwikkelde Kees Roorda samen met componist Micha Hamel. Ze haalden hun inspiratie uit het verschijnsel van de eclips. Het internationale theatercollectief The Glasshouse is geen onbekende van Huis en Festival a/d Werf. Oprichters Kees Roorda en Catherine Henegan presenteerden eerder onder meer hun interdisciplinaire voorstellingen Waterkou en Melk en Bloed. Het duo maakt rauwe, verhalende voorstellingen over de complexiteit van het dagelijks bestaan.

A group of people is travelling to a place somewhere in the world to be present at a miracle. They each expect something different. Once they have arrived, a cosmic warrior tells them he has had a vision. He has been chosen to deliver the world from all problems. To make it happen he has to gather the wishes of all the pilgrims before the light goes. There is only one condition: all the wishes must be expressed from the heart. Eclips asks the question whether it is possible to live without the comfort of a belief in progress. Or is believing the new taboo? Kees Roorda developed the idea for this site-specific musical theatre performance with composer Micha Hamel. They took inspiration from the phenomenon of the solar eclipse.
The international theatre collective The Glasshouse is no stranger at Huis en Festival a/d Werf. Previous presentations by the company’s founders, Kees Roorda and Catherine Henegan, have included their interdisciplinary performances Waterkou and Melk en Bloed. The duo creates rough, narrative performances about the complexities of our day-to-day existence.
